“Feathers and Florals” began as the homeowners’ shorthand for how they wanted the house to feel: light, organic and graceful, but never delicate. At Foxglove Estate, the idea appears in softened lines, warm wood tones and a palette that shifts gently from room to room. Seville-toned hardwood moves through the interiors, grounding a kitchen of warm Moccasin cabinetry. Everleigh stone rises behind the range in a sweeping backsplash, its ogee edge lending a softer line beneath the sloped wood hood. Recurring tones and materials give the rooms a natural continuity, even as each develops its own identity.
a richer register
There are moments of greater ornament where the house can carry them. In the game room, Tartufo stone, cut mirror and suspended unlacquered brass shelving give the wet bar a darker, more polished character. Elsewhere, botanical papers and sculptural lighting introduce pattern and movement against the home’s quieter architectural framework. In the great room, a honed cast-stone fireplace surround brings the composition back to something more restrained, giving the house a measured shift between embellishment and calm.
THE NEIGHBORHOOD
Foxglove Estate sits in Riverside at RiverTown, in the Orangedale area along the William Bartram Scenic & Historic Highway, where estate homes on preserve lots meet a broad stretch of the St. Johns. Shands Pier is nearby, and across the water, Green Cove Springs offers a glimpse of an earlier Florida, when riverboats carried winter visitors from Jacksonville to grand hotels built around mineral waters once promoted as a local “Fountain of Youth.” The city is still close enough to remain part of everyday life, but here the view opens to moss-draped trees, broad water and the opposite shoreline, with the river setting the scene from morning through the last light of the day.
